Like the old saying goes, “team work makes the dream work.” We all have our own individual strengths and weaknesses. When we work collectively as a team, we have the opportunity to produce some really extraordinary results. Whether you’re in the process of building your team, or looking to strengthen your current group, these tips can help everyone create content that can’t be topped!
SET MUTUAL GOALS
Our #1 tip to working successfully with a team? Agree on what you are working towards. Are you increasing web traffic? Reaching a new audience? Creating unique content? Building a relationship with your followers? Make sure everyone is on the same page by establishing clear, measurable goals.
DEFINE YOUR PROCESS
Another major key to successfully creating team content is to designate roles. Each member of the team should understand their specific duties and expectations before starting a project so nothing falls through the cracks. Use your strengths and weaknesses to help determine your roles. (Some common team roles: editor, photographer, social media manager, and marketing associate.) A solid work-flow process is also imperative when it comes to working effectively as a team. A work-flow process manages all activity, from deadlines to assigned tasks. Some popular task-management tools include Dropbox, Google Sheets, Trello, and Skype.
“We cannot accomplish all that we need to do without working together.”
KEEP AN OPEN MIND
Part of the beauty and challenge of teamwork is working with an array of diverse personalities. Some individuals thrive on last-minute deadlines, others struggle with communication, and some just might not share your artistic vision. Regardless, it is each person’s unique qualities combined that produce unique results. It is important to embrace and understand one another to achieve the common goal. The ability to adapt to your environment and the team surrounding you will be a skill that will benefit you long into your career. SAY THANK YOU
“Thank you.” Two small words that make a massive impact. When working with a team, there are bound to be disagreements and differences along the way. Regardless of the bumps in the road, always remain appreciative of your teammates. You have a team for a reason; you couldn’t do it alone!
