You’ve been contacted to work on your first influencer campaign – congrats! It can definitely be exciting when you start working on campaigns with brands that you love for the first time, but it can also be pretty intimidating. You want to prove they made the right decision by working with you, right? Follow these steps to ensure your first campaign is a total success!
Get all of the campaign details
Once you’ve officially signed on to the campaign, you’ll receive a set of guidelines that outline exactly what the brand expects from you. Read through everything carefully and take note of important deadlines, content requirements, and the approval process before you get started.
Don’t be afraid to ask any questions! If you’re unsure about any of the campaign requirements or have any issues before actually executing the campaign, reach back out to your brand representative for clarification. You’ll end up saving yourself a lot of time if you know exactly what you need to do before you start creating!
Produce your content
Now it’s time for the fun part – creating your content! Make sure the vision of your post aligns with both your style and that of the brand you’re working with. Throughout the creative process, be mindful of the campaign requirements so that you don’t miss anything and risk having to re-shoot. Try to get 3-4 shots that you’re really proud to present so the brand has some options to choose from.
Submit for approval
Now that you’ve created and edited the photos/videos and captions for your post, it’s time to submit everything to your campaign manager for approval. Make sure you’ve read over everything very carefully before hitting submit!
Make any changes/edits & resubmit for approval if needed
Your brand representative will then review the content you submitted and either let you know your post has been approved OR that you need to go back and make some changes. If they do request a change, don’t be afraid to ask questions to make sure you fully understand what they are asking from you. Then it’s up to you to make the necessary adjustments and resubmit for approval. If you are ever asked to make changes to your work, don’t take it personally/negatively; the brand chose to work with you because they love the quality of your content and they ultimately just want to make sure that your final post will be beneficial for both of you.
It’s time to post!
Once your content has been approved, it’s time to post! Make sure not to add anything to/edit the caption and that you include all of the necessary brand tags and hashtags. Then, share the post(s) with your campaign manager and follow up with post metrics if you’re asked for them afterwards.
Now that you’ve successfully worked through your first influencer campaign, you’re ready for new, exciting brand opportunities to come your way! Each campaign is different, but paying attention to detail, following instructions and staying in constant contact with the brand will help to make each one a success.
