We’ve learned a lot since we started #paid, but most importantly, we’ve learned a lot about who’s pushing the needle forward when it comes to online social content.
As it turns out, there’s a new kind of celebrity in town, and they’re known as influencers. These social media stars have hundreds, thousands, even millions of followers online, even though you probably have never heard of them. They go by the name of Christian Collins, or Stefanie Krach. They’re less expensive to partner with than a traditional celebrity and drive more sales and installs than any other form of marketing.
They tweet about their location at a mall and 40,000 fans come screaming resulting in 12 police officers and 8 confused security guards trying to figure out what just happened. Call it Hollywood 2.0.
What does this mean?
We’re a community made up of all these influencers, but with all this power and influence over millions of people, what are our morals? What do we believe in? What do we tell our followers when we know they will listen? How can we, together, stay responsible? What does being a part of a greater community mean to us? And most importantly, what does “community” mean to us?
What do they have in common?
Every single influencer we’ve gotten to know on a personal level has had one thing in common: they want to use their influence to make the world a better place. We couldn’t be happier to uncover the fact that these influencers truly care about their followers and the content they promote, and when we look at how #paid was built from the ground up, our definition of community was staring right back at us.
What do they do?
Some of us help over 10 million teenagers make it through the day by avoiding feelings of depression, loneliness and anxiety. Others put a smile on a couple thousand peoples’ face every time they upload a photo or a video – and to them, making other people happy means the world. Some work at a local rescue mission while snapping a picture of their beautiful weekend adventures in the wilderness. Some are there to inspire us, and teach us that each one of us is a hero, ready to accept our own unique call to action, and face our hero’s journey. We come from all over the world, have our own unique goals, but all of us unite together for the same purpose: to inspire every person we touch and make the world a better place – and to us, that is community.
Bryan founded #paid to help the best content creators on Instagram be able to live off of doing what they love.
